My blog takes you behind the scenes at the Voice of America (VOA), the largest U.S. international broadcaster with a radio, television and Internet audience of over 125 million. I'll post articles about our special broadcasting projects around the world. You'll also get to participate in the media training sessions we run.

VOA Development Spotlighted
It’s end of the fiscal year crunch-time for VOA's development officers, and it’s been a good year for Joan Mower’s development team, which has worked with the State Department to secure about $1-million for a new Afghan TV program, over $800K for the new Sudan program, and money for broadcasting in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Burundi. The team, including Brian Armstead, Gustavo Win, Noreen Kinnavy and Melissa Havens, also put together journalism training programs in Argentina, Bolivia, Panama, Jamaica, Haiti and Nigeria. On the horizon: money for a health radio program in DRC, more training in Central Asia and Mexico and a call-in program in Angola.
